If your toilet is giving you trouble, it might be time for a replacement. Replacing a toilet isn’t as difficult as you might think but it might require a professional. Here’s what you need to know about replacing a toilet – a simple guide:

1. Shut off the water supply to your toilet. This is usually located behind the toilet.

2. Flush the toilet to empty the tank.

3. Disconnect the water supply line from the toilet.

4. Use a wrench to remove the nuts that hold the toilet bowl to the floor.

5. Lift the toilet bowl off of the floor and set it aside.

6. Remove the old wax ring from the floor flange.

7. Clean the floor flange with a putty knife.

8. Apply a new wax ring to the floor flange.

9. Set the toilet bowl back in place on the floor flange and hand-tighten the nuts

to hold it in place.

10. Reconnect the water supply line to the toilet and turn on the water supply.

11. Flush the toilet to fill the tank and test for leaks.

12. That’s it! You’ve successfully replaced your toilet.
